Hello, I have been on holiday - me and the ancient one, went to Cornwall - we borrowed a mates place, this makes it sound v posh, it’s actually a sweet little bungalow nr the Hooray Henry capital of Cornwall which is a place called Rock. Fortunately we were out of season and there were only a couple of braying idiots in the pub - where I heard the phrase ‘aristo-chav’ for the first time - this apparently can be used to describe the type of ‘chap that goes shooting on daddy’s estate wearing an England football strip’ - Hmmmm.

Rock is brilliant because it’s a ten minute ferry ride from Padstow - or Padstein as it’s referred to locally due to Rick Stein (off of the telly) basing his fishy empire down there. I had peppered prawns in his cafĂ© and bought a dressing gown from his nick nack shop. I don’t know why Rick Stein is selling dressing gowns (it doesn’t have a fishy motif - it’s a lovely pink kimono thing) but we also bought some chilli chutney and some marmalade - yes we are complete Rick Stein suckers - just like everyone else.

Also - because I’m the kind of girl who knows how to enjoy herself - went to a lobster hatchery in Padstow - look it up, it was one of the best fifteen minutes of my life (true).

After five days in Rock we went on to visit friends near St Ives - hoorah we had tapas over looking the beach and visited the Barbara Hepworth sculpture garden - I love Barbara Hepworth - even though the photos of her made her look like a vicious cow.

The weather in Cornwall was great, I burnt my nose and we had to buy rugs from a National trust shop so we could lie on the beach.

Yes, Grumpy 2 is finished in the West End and I must now write a new stand up show for the Autumn - so far I’ve got the title - ‘Old Dog New Tricks’ and the poster is almost designed- so that’s a start.

I shall be setting off in September - so check your local theatre - unless of course you can’t stand my guts, in which case save your money - you fool.

This month
I ate monkfish tail at Nathan Outlaws restaurant in The St Endonoc Hotel in Rock – yum.
Bought another stripy T shirt which officially pushes my wardrobe into over-stripe.

Read - Maggie O Farrell’s, The Hand That First Held Mine - which I was a bit off about at first and then really enjoyed - which was a relief as I am a big Maggie O Farrell fan - am now reading Andrea Leavy’s The Long Song which is rather fabulous so far.

I have seen no theatre, the girl child was in a production of Antigone set in a fetish club in Oxford but she wouldn’t let me go and see it!
